The Waste Authority of Jackson County Operates a satellite collection center for the Regional Collection Center.

Residents of Jackson County may bring household hazardous waste to the transfer station. The transfer station phone number is 563-672-3431. Businesses must take their waste to the Clinton County Regional Collection Center by appointment only. Please call 563-244-0702 to schedule an appointment.

What is Household Hazardous Material?

Household hazardous materials can be defined as household products that contain one or more of the following characteristics:

Combustible

Capable of being easily set on fire

Reactive

Capable of exploding if exposed to heat or extreme pressure. May react violently when exposed to incompatible materials.

Corrosive

Capable of burning or destroying living tissues and materials by means of a chemical reaction.

Toxic

The ability to cause severe injury or death if inhaled, ingested, or absorbed through the skin.

Common Household Hazardous Materials Include:

Household Cleaners

Used in the kitchen or bathroom such as: drain cleaners and floor and furniture polishes, etc.

Automotive Products

Gasoline, cleaners and wax, brake fluid, and body putty, etc.

Miscellaneous

Pool Chemicals, photo chemicals, and artist paints, etc.

Home Improvement

Products such as oil-based paint, stains, varnish, and adhesives, etc.

Pesticides

Insect repellants, weed killers,moth balls, mouse poison, and various garden products, etc.
